Therese Johnson, founder of Senior Care of Sacramento, is a gerontologist, certified nurse’s assistant, community and social service specialist. She is an educator for the California Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) and the California State Legislature. Previously an administrator for residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFE) and an Alzheimer’s specialist and Reiki master. Therese studied conventional, complementary, and alternative forms of medicine and has 18 years in healthcare working in acute care, long-term care, and residential care for the elderly. While serving as the president and legislative advocate of Foothill Association of Careproviders for the Elderly (FACES), Therese sponsored and successfully passed the Assisted Living Waiver Pilot Project (AB 499), requiring Medi-Cal to fund RCFES and Board and Care – small, home-like environments offering seniors personalized attention, private quarters, and dignified lifestyles. Prior to the passage of this bill, Medi-Cal only funded skilled nursing facilities. Therese is also the founder and president of the Alzheimer’s Reiki Program (ARP) which offers continuing education for nurses and caregivers– taking a holistic approach to treating and holding in remission Alzheimer’s disease. She's a volunteer for Sutter Auburn Faith Hospice, and for six years has served as the owner and administrator for Saint Therese Care Home for the Elderly RCFE in Auburn, CA.

Therese is passionate about optimizing the quality of life for senior citizens, through taking an integrative medicine approach to their care, as well as engaging in social advocacy on their behalf. She is the founder and president of the Alzheimer’s Reiki Program, which offers continuing education for nurses and caregivers– taking a holistic approach to treating Alzheimer's/Dementia.In addition she is also a Certified Scalar Heart Therapist.

Duties:Developed, coordinated, and administered all aspects; management, office, personnel, finances, purchasing, etc., in operating a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) for 7 years. Recruited, hired, and trained staff and negotiated wages. Contracted advertising and produced 100% occupancy. Forecast income and expenses related to operation of RCFE. Interview and assess residents and contract with resident families.
