As a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) and Principal Investigator at the School of Biological and Health Sciences and SFI Centre for Machine Learning, Technological University Dublin, I'm deeply engaged in both education and research. I contribute extensively to various degree programs at TU Dublin, spanning disciplines such as MSc Clinical Laboratory Sciences, BSc Biomedical and Molecular Diagnostics, BSc Biomedical Science, and BSc Biomolecular Science. I am committed to fostering growth and learning across all four years of these programs, and I am passionate about my role as the Professional Placements Coordinator for BSc Biomedical and Molecular Diagnostics, which engages with the Biomedical and Molecular Diagnostics industries in Ireland.Prior to my current role, I served as a Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Exeter, where I played a pivotal role in shaping the MSc in Genomics Medicine program. As the module coordinator for the Epigenomics in Health and Disease module, I led the way in delivering comprehensive and impactful education in this critical area.In addition to my dedication to teaching, my research interests lie at the intersection of epigenetics, psychological stressors, environmental influences, and their impact on complex human diseases, particularly psychiatric disorders. I am passionate about leveraging my expertise to contribute to advancements in understanding and addressing these challenges and developing novel disease related biomarkers. Investigating the role of DNA methylation as a key modulator of aberrant cellular death in prostate cancer. A range of molecular and cell biology techniques were attained during my doctoral thesis including a wide range of DNA Methylation techniques such as Denaturing High Performance Liquid Chromatography (DHPLC) adapted for methylation screening, Bisulfite sequencing, Quantitative methylation specific PCR (QMSP), Bisulfite modification of DNA. Other techniques included Bioinformatics (Human Genome Browser, Promoter Scan, NCBI nucleotide database), Literature review (PubMed & Google scholar), PCR, Molecular cloning, Cell culture, Quantitative RT-PCR, Nucleic acid isolation, Prostate cancer tissue sample collection, Statistical analysis.
