My career path as an educator has allowed me to develop ideas and practices that continue to serve me well in my work. Since beginning the transition to education in 2008 I have worked and volunteered with many area non-profits and groups to develop the practice knowledge I need to be effective with students, parents and administrators. During my time at Gary Comer Youth Center I have been given opportunities to expand, innovate programming, build long lasting and impactful relationships with youth, and move my career path forward. The shift from the Academic team to the Program team will allow me to closely collaborate with department areas to organically improve and cross pollinate offerings. Areas I’m looking to concentrate on include business incubators and start up spaces for African American youth, expansion of social emotional and wellness supports for youth, and college and career pathways.
