I am transitioning to an advisor role with Health Commons Project because I firmly believe in its mission.

Closing health equity gaps for underinvested communities is what I call "heart work." This mission speaks loud and clear to the core of who I am. As a product of one of these marginalized communities, I experienced discrimination because of my race/ethnicity. Everyone deserves great access to the care they need, regardless of their social, economic, or cultural circumstances. Health disparities impact all of us. When we empower individuals to prevail over their circumstances, everyone wins. Leveraging our community engagement expertise, Health Commons is partnering with key stakeholders to launch two critical programs: 1) TeamBirth - addressing the increased maternal mortality rate, and 2) Referral Hub - developing the technology at the school level to match students with behavioral health needs to the right community provider. This work is too important to stand on the sidelines.

Following my passion to fix healthcare, I am joining a company with a similar mission. apree health is working to build the first integrated health network that brings together a best-in-class engagement platform (Castlight Health) with an advanced primary care model (Vera Whole Health) to provide a vastly better health and care experience, improve outcomes, and significantly lower the total cost of care for a population. This role will own executive responsibility (including P&L) for managing one of apree’s most strategic markets. After 4 rewarding years of leading Sound Family Medicine to a better place during the global pandemic, I'm happy to transition to a strategic role while exploring options to help fix healthcare and see where it leads me.

Recognized as an outstanding family practice in Pierce County, this physician-owned medical group has been a part of the community for over 35 years, and it continues to grow. I'm privileged to join an organization that has consistently earned the “Best Pediatric and Family Care" award year after year.

HMA was my foray into the health insurance industry. A well-respected TPA, this organization works with self-insured employers to reduce their healthcare costs while providing exceptional customer service to its 140,000 members. I was successful in developing a 20-person team of top talents that included Account Managers and Data Analysts.

I'm excited to join this premier healthcare organization in the Puget Sound and will be accountable for the overall strategic, operational, and clinical success of the outpatient markets. Working with cross-functional teams, we aim to create a winning ambulatory strategy to move the organization forward in an increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive environment.

I took a leap of faith and accepted the Director of Development position with the Tacoma Philharmonic because I love raising friends and funds for nonprofits! They present some amazing classical artists like Joshua Bell, Yo Yo Ma, and James Galway in small town America - Tacoma! The Philharmonic merged with the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts in early 2012.

The opportunity at LTC Solutions came just at the right time. It was a start-up benefits brokerage firm founded in 1997 by a brilliant insurance professional. With my background in consulting, I was able to help develop marketing materials and create proprietary presentations to sell a product that was quite new to the market at the time. Group long-term care insurance had only been in the marketplace for a few years. The president of the company took it to a new level to gain market shares. The firm now manages more than 130 clients, and the growth potential is unlimited with baby boomers retiring and aging in the millions.

This job was the most enjoyable in that I worked on a project for a defined period of time and got to move on to the next. It was fun going places. I had a client in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was able to see the beautiful summer and frigid winter of this raw state. The clients were mostly healthcare executives and physicians so the work was at a high level. It was critical to be the subject matter expert.

I provided strategic leadership as an Executive Director at Yesler Terrace Health Clinic. Proud to claim that I retired a 5-year debt in four months of hire. With the advent of managed care and capitation payment in 1994, I worked with the board of directors to search for a larger organization to align our programs. As soon as the affiliation between Yesler Terrace Health Clinic and Harborview Medical Center was achieved, I was hired immediately to manage four outpatient clinics (Yesler Terrace, Refugee Clinic, Dental and Oral Surgery Clinics) and one ancillary department at Harborview. Working at a public hospital was challenging, but ultimately very rewarding.

Started my healthcare career as an Administrative Fellow of the Department of Health Services (DHS) where I had the opportunity to do rotations at different hospitals/facilities. Last position held was as an Associate Administrator where I managed 4 departments for a large ambulatory health network, including 10 satellite clinics. Ended my tenure with DHS when I relocated to Seattle to get married.
