I had a client in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was able to see the beautiful summer and frigid winter of this raw state. I provided strategic leadership as an Executive Director at Yesler Terrace Health Clinic. Proud to claim that I retired a 5-year debt in four months of hire. With the advent of managed care and capitation payment in 1994, I worked with the board of directors to search for a larger organization to align our programs. As soon as the affiliation between Yesler Terrace Health Clinic and Harborview Medical Center was achieved, I was hired immediately to manage four outpatient clinics (Yesler Terrace, Refugee Clinic, Dental and Oral Surgery Clinics) and one ancillary department at Harborview. Working at a public hospital was challenging, but ultimately very rewarding.
