Leveraging human biology, translational sciences & data analytics to deliver preventative and therapeutic impact to patients.Rob is the Head of Advanced Predictive Analytics at J&J where his team focuses on using AI/ML for early disease detection, risk stratification & early interception. By combining human ‘omics & digitized biomarkers, Rob and team decode risk trajectories & mechanisms to enable therapeutic solutions for lung cancer, renal cancer & autoimmune diseases. Before joining J&J, Rob headed the predictive analytics function within the inflammation and immunology research unit at Celgene. He also served as Director of Computational Biology of neuroscience at AstraZeneca and held roles of increasing responsibility at Pfizer covering CNS diseases. Rob is working towards an executive MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He did his postdoc research in systems biology at Harvard Medical School, received computational biology Ph.D from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in computer science and bioinformatics from the University of Alberta.

Postdoc Research FellowHarvard Medical School Sep 2009 - Mar 2013Boston, Ma, UsThe research project was a joined collaboration between Harvard medical school, MIT and Boehringer Ingelheim that focused on therapeutic target-identification for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We used systems biology approach to experimentally probe, and computationally modeled the differences between the cellular states of normal and RA cells, under combinations of stimuli/perturbations. -
Ph.DWashington University School Of Medicine 2004 - 2009St. Louis, Mo, UsMy grad school research (advisor: Garland Marshall) focused on computer-aided drug design. The project utilized virtual screening and pharmacophore-based drug design to predict small-molecule candidates that targeted the dimerization of ErbB receptors. I then experimentally tested these early candidates by using an array of assays that included Western and split-luciferase live-cell imaging. -
Undergrad Research AssistantUniversity Of Alberta 2002 - 2004Edmonton, Ab, CaI worked in the lab of professor David Wishart at the University of Alberta. I worked on a few projects during my 2 year tenure in Dave's lab. The first project was RDC-aided protein structure prediction. This was a nice introduction to the field of protein folding, which I later on was able to appreciate just how complex/hard it is. The second project was on building a computational cellular automata that provided a simulator for the users to build predictive models by supplying physical rules.
