May 2011 - Mar 2013

Vice President, Service Delivery

Austin, Texas Area

Responsible for Service Delivery for a leading provider of managed IP services (data, voice, secure network connections). MegaPath specialized in large nationwide multi-site deployments of secure network connections. Some projects included thousands of sites, such as stores, restaurants, and other retail and office locations. My teams took orders from Sales and provisioned circuits anywhere in the US. They worked with the engineering teams to develop the proper hardware and software solutions and then project managed the deployments, scheduling all aspects of the different work to be done at each location. Typical deployments would include hundreds of locations and would be done over a period of 3-6 months. I left my position at Megapath after only 14 months as I was recruited by Interface Security Systems.

Jan 2010 - Apr 2011

Chief Operating Officer

Adjudica

Greater St. Louis Area

Co-founder and responsible for all operational aspects of Adjudica, which was formed to bring transparency and end user decision making to the group health insurance industry. Our goal was to leverage the power of the Internet and social media to create more awareness with members of a group health plan on the impact of their individual healthcare spending habits on the annual cost of the plan and rising costs each year. The concept is still valid as there is virtually no link today between an individual member's habits and that member's cost. The cost impact is instead spread to the group so everyone's costs continue to rise because of the lack of individual awareness and accountability. However, the product was difficult to fund and data was harder to obtain than anticipated. The concept was welcomed by companies, insurers, and third party administrators at a high level but not at a pocketbook level.

Jun 2008 - Feb 2010

Vice President, Operations And Engineering

Gamerail

Greater St. Louis Area

Oversee all operational aspects.....building network, developing software, managing backoffice, managing customers. Build company from startup to strong nationwide presence in less than 2 years. Unable to get beyond VC seed funding. With a team of people less than 20, we installed a nationwide private network, opened 9 data centers at key Internet peering points, successfully peered networks with the dominant Internet carriers including companies as large as AT&T and Level 3. We developed a desktop software application that monitored latency between the users desktop and the gaming server they were connected to and determined if our private network could offer lower latency than the default Internet routing. If so, we re-routed their gaming traffic across our network. Our proprietary technology worked. Our desktop application worked on both PCs and Macs. Our network monitoring tools were leading edge. We had 4 provisional patents awarded. However, national networks are expensive and we were unable to develop a large enough paying user base to cash flow within 12 months and our VC funding was cut off so we had to wind down operations.
