Profile bio

About Steven Pousty, Ph.D.

My goal is to direct a team that gets developers excited about working with technology and helping them to create great solutions! With over 18 years experience in developer relations I can teach and collaborate with all the groups in a company to create and grow successful interactions with developers and data scientists.I have grown developer relation programs and mentored junior developer advocates. My management style is implicit trust, collaborative, aligning strengths with needs, and getting the team goals aligned with company goals. I work towards shielding reports from politics, helping them to grow in their skills, and getting the team to work as team rather than a group of people. As an an IC, I love the balance of the advocate/evangelist role - part marketing, part engineer, part product manager, part support, and part sales engineer. I consider myself a bridge between all these groups. I have broad speaking experience, from groups of 5 to halls of thousands. I have taught bootcamps, workshops, and tutored other developers. Getting to work with engineers to design and test APIs, file bugs, feature improvements, and filter information back from external developers is also another great aspect to the job. I work with marketing and sales to create our value proposition and key statements to get developers to pay attention to a platform. Finally, I keep well read on trends in technology and development - it helps when talking to developers but also to set direction for our developer products. I have expertise in Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, and HTML as languages. The main platforms I target are web and data science applications. I have been in the container and Kubernetes space from day 1 and love it. PostgreSQL, and it's community, have been an important part of my career. Some of my deepest areas of technical expertise are statistics, data analysis, and spatial technologies,.You can see my stackexchange accounts here:http://stackoverflow.com/users/266609/thesteve0and http://gis.stackexchange.com/users/57/thesteve0Specialties: JavaScript, LBS, Public Speaking, teaching, Spatial Statistics, Java, Hibernate, Python, GIS, XML, Postgresql, PostGIS, MySQL, Access, documentation, marketing, developer outreach

Listed skills include Python, Gis, Software Development, Databases, and 46 others.
