At the time, I had bad credit and knew nothing about the mortgage industry or credit. My income dropped 80% from the previous year and I was starting a new mortgage company that specialized in hard money loans. I lost my house in foreclosure and filed for bankruptcy. We built up to become one of the leading hard money lenders in our area.But there was still the issue of my credit. I had none as a result of my past troubles along with my decision to pay cash for everything. Finally, I realized that I had to get back into the credit game if I was wanted to do what I wanted, including buying a home, buying a car or even renting a car.There was little information available for someone in my position so I did lots of research to figure out how to rebuild my credit. Once I started, it only took a few months to get my score over 700.
