My objectives are to re-ignite our IoD SW Wednesday @ 6 Networking event for our members and to shine a light on our regional Scale Up eco-system and their specific needs from their IoD membership and then to develop our approach to tackling key issues that they face to measurably improve scale up success.

Volunteer Director of Bristol & West of England China Bureau's mission is to connect the people of the West of England with the people of China. My role is to build business and trade development between the West of England and China by encouraging exports and inward investment.

Global Trade & Receivables Finance (GTRF), Canary Wharf, London. Provide Business Development OD & Transformation expertise to support cross-function, cross-border global project in line with strategy, values and strong governance to improve client focused capabilities to drive global sales revenue of £6bil. This interim project was delivered over a year including project management of trial online learning platforms for group-wide video learning; upskilling global product management across several regions to design, deliver and record over sixty online international trade modules for multi-skilling global Business Development Managers; supporting the procurement and delivery of global programmes covering Business Development and Active Sales Manager programme, including three months pilot support in Latin America.

My roles covered IoD membership development and events, including the popular Wednesday @ 6 networking evenings and thought leadership seminars for a wide variety of sectors. In my final year, I spearheaded the first ever IoD Trade Mission and the largest from the West of the England to China working alongside the local UK and China Government, DIT, CBBC, and BCP from which the legacy to local partnerships, businesses, trade and local economy still lives on. I was particularly proud to receive an award by the Ablaze Charity during my tenure, for my work supporting the Bridge Learning Campus to secure the Boeing Build a Plane Project for their students, to inspire the next generation of engineers and to lift the aspiration of young people in one of our most deprived areas of Bristol.

Translated vision and strategy into a clear organisational development strategy to support change, develop leadership, management and employee capabilities to meet Unum's strategic goals for ambitious growth whilst ensuring effective training and compliance regimes were in place to comply with FCA regulations. I was awarded Manager of the Year Finalist by Susan Ring, CEO in 2004 for my work for Unum's Investors in People re-accreditation.

Managed the training function for B2B marketing and sales development. Devised training plans and programmes for broker development and key accountant teams to exceed business development goals, ensure regulatory compliance, professional competence and skills that delivered year on year market growth. In 2001, I was awarded Unum Role Model Manager by Lawrence Churchill CBE, Executive Chairman for role modelling the Unum values and attributes in the way I collaborated, delivered results and worked as a team player, supporting others to help achieve their personal and organisation goals.

Part of the original Orange Retail Training team that set up the training division for Orange Retail stores from start-up to UK wide expansion during the growth of Orange PCS. Tailor designed B2C retail development programmes covering management development, induction, mobile telecommuciation and related products, sales and service skills.

Part of the AAIS and AA Retail training consultancy team that provided in-house training programme development and delivery for internal clients including AA Insurance, AA Travel and AA Retail. This included training for management, extensive range of products and services, customer services, sales and IT systems based training through workshop and distance learning delivery.
