Dr. Irene Georgakoudi, ODDET Lab:Description of Research: Develop 3D-engineered brain tissue scaffolds and induce injury via controlled cortical impactor (CCI) to mimic traumatic brain injury to (1) examine the impact of injury severity and frequency and (2) identify biomarkers for improved diagnosis- Perform multi-photon microscopy to acquire fluorescent signals from metabolic co-enzymes, released mitochondrial vesicles, and stress-associated cellular products - Quantify metabolic shifts using metabolomic assays (LPS/Lysotracker and glutamate/ROS) and computational models

- Evaluate patients’ medical records, measure patients’ vital signs, and assist physicians with patient examination- Perform medical procedures and POC testing such as EKG, Covid/flu tests, and urinalyses- Ensure examination rooms are fully stocked and cleaned, explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients, and schedule follow-up appointments
