Started programming in QBASIC when I was 10 years old. Then learned Clipper, Pascal, Delphi and finally C/C++. Got stuck with C doing some personal projects just for fun, from games to AI and image processing.After all that time with C, I've got the choice to learn COBOL or Java. I did choose COBOL back then as I didn't see the benefit of OO. COBOL granted me my first job as a developer. Two years coding for the mainframe. Got my ITIL v3 certification in that time.In a great day I watched some YouTube videos from Misko Hevery in Google Tech Talks showing the power of polymorphism and OO ("The Clean Code Talks"). Two months later I did switch jobs and started working with Java. I've learned a lot about design patterns, best practices, language gotchas and still learning.About a year after switching to Java, I watched a video at InfoQ from Rich Hickey about programming languages and time ("Are We There Yet?"). He totally sold his language (Clojure) to me. I dedicated my undergraduate's work to that matter (time, parallelism and concurrency). Learned Clojure and some other LISP languages for a while when I finally got in touch with Haskell. Spent a good time with Haskell, loved the different paradigm and expressiveness of the language.So far I've been in touch with lots of languages, frameworks and products (C, C++, PHP, Java, Node, Ruby, Rails, SQL, MongoDB, BigQuery, Cassandra, etc).I have no favorite stack now, I know each stack has its benefits and drawbacks and each project has its own set of requirements.
