I have played different roles and evolved immensely as a person and professional at Inspira. I have worked as a programmer, solutions architect, project manager, process manager, customer service representative, and trainer. I have also cleaned floors and washed dishes :)Nowadays I'm interested in marketing and sales, along with team management.

I was hired to coordinate the development of a full-featured web marketing product, that featured campaign management, media publishing, user tracking, email marketing, and reports. My team and I developed an e-mail sender able to deliver up to 200.000 e-mail messages per hour. We were able to implement and deploy the system while doing lots of "firefighting" for the old system, which was slow, outdated, and difficult to maintain. We used .NET Framework 2.0, which had just been released a few weeks before.I also defined a software development process and trained the staff to benefit from it.

I collaborated with fantastic programmers (Paulo Silveira, Rafael Steil, and Luiz Scheidegger) to create a.NET port of the X-development framework. Being the lazy programmer I am, I decided to write a Java to C# "translator" that ported 90% of the code and saved me many hours of tedious work.I have learned a lot about software architecture from my colleagues there, and we were able to develop great software within tight deadlines.

I have helped to develop lots of challenging projects for companies like Microsoft, Volkswagen, Sadia, Terra, Telefonica, and Unilever.In 2000, I created what some consider to be the first Web 2.0 website in the world (when the main web browser was IE5 and jQuery, AJAX, blogs, and social networks did not yet exist).The goal of the solution was to provide a website on which a writer (Mario Prata) could write a novel (Anjos de Badaró, ISBN: 8573023376) online, in real time. Thousands of users tuned in every day to watch the creative process in action. The application was developed using VBA for Microsoft Word and streamed every keystroke to a server (written in C), which in turn would pass the data to a Perl script that issued Javascript commands, which in turn printed HTML markup that reflected the text and formatting changes made by the writer so the users could see them live in their browsers.I have also developed some of the first ASP.NET projects in the world for Microsoft.

I was selected to work at Insite among several candidates, even though I had never programmed before. At Insite, I had the opportunity to work with great minds, who taught me a HUGE amount of knowledge in Computer Science, like Unix/Linux scripting, advanced Perl/CGI, networking, and algorithm knowledge (like data structures, B-Trees, binary search, algorithm complexity, search indexing, and relational databases).It was there that I first heard of Python and Ruby, which are now mainstream. I felt I was respected as a programmer there (even though my knowledge was very, very limited). This gave me the confidence I needed to follow the IT career path and earn a living doing something I love.(Not to mention that they also introduced me to the Geek culture, showing me Slashdot, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Star Wars, and other cool stuff).
