Thibankumar is a SEDA GCPV Design certificate holder with experience in both NEM and SELCO scheme solar PV design and turnkey execution.

Thibankumar presented Mechanical Engineering related lectures (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Computer Aided Design, Metrology and Quality Control) for the Mechatronics Engineering Diploma and Degree programmes. Most of the related teaching materials (i.e. lecture notes, tutorial questions, case studies) are either self-developed or self-curated.He was also the FYP Coordinator for Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering, and was proactively standardizing and revamping the FYP course to meet best practices.

Thibankumar was involved in enhancing teaching and learning using AR and non-immersive VR for the Electrical Power and Machines course. In addition, he creates MOOC styled video lectures for the Mechatronics course which focuses on the fundamentals (e.g. why things work the way they do, the calculus behind the operating behaviour).He divided his research capacity into two: engineering and non-engineering. For engineering research, he has conducted preliminary numerical study and written a conference paper on the structural integrity of complex pipe structures. To further this, he has assisted the Principal Investigator in securing research grants. Furthermore, he has simultaneously authored and co-authored research review papers focusing on corroded pipeline failure behaviour. For non-engineering research, he has co-authored a conference paper that highlights the factors that affect academic probation students in UTP.

Thibankumar was involved in the GMR550 Palm Router Project where he conducted tests and analyzed data relevant to GMR550 Palm Router Tool. He assisted in design improvements, coordinated and involved in Engineering Builds and Process FMEAs to improve effectiveness of the assembly process. From the Process FMEAs, he managed to introduce concepts and designed fixtures for the assembly line. He conducted discussions relevant to assembly process improvements and was involved in technical discussion with suppliers.He led the Mid-Range Tools Bulk Packaging Improvement Project where he managed to design and implement a bulk packaging that allowed for a 33% cost saving.He was also involved in the Alpha TDR2 Project where he assisted the Project Leader in completing project management related tasks, coordinated kick-off workshops.

Thibankumar chopped timber into suitable smaller chucks.Best Moment: Realizing that strength is only 25% and the rest is accuracy when it comes to mauling timber.

Thibankumar assembled and disassembled cars components. He assembled engine components for customers who have purchased parts from the workshop. He also disassembled car components which were sold in the used parts market.Common vehicles include Proton Saga, Proton Iswara, Proton Wira, Proton Waja, Nissan Sunny (B11), Toyota Corolla (AE80) and Mercedes Benz (Engine M123).Best Moment: Disassembling 4 engines down to its engine block and a gearbox in half a day. All the components were not damaged during the process and were resold to customers as second hand parts.

Thibankumar worked as a waiter and also washed the dishes.
