As educator, urbanist and practical philosopher I seek to address the fundamental transitions of our time by developing learning societies, people and places with the capacity for regeneration. I run the Regenerative Cities Program at Utrecht University - a transformational program that nurtures personal, social, and societal regeneration. Outside of University I often develop projects and labs with governments, communities, business, places, schools, and places to learn and develop vital cultures and regenerative practice. The learning laboratory for me is a place of inquiry and creation in a collective effort to understand and form ourselves for a not yet sustainable world, to contribute to it with audacity and respect, and to grow in what makes us human. The Townmaking Institute is a R&D collective for urban commons where we seek to develop common civic goods that serve all life. Making assets from the perspective of inter-being requires a fundamental shift in material culture, knowledge development, and economy. Our initiatives aim to bring back a local scale, enable personal and collective agency, and shape a nurturing relationship between human, nature and technology.
