I was mainly involved in revising the sampling methodology and sampling strategy in the MAREANO project (www.mareano.no), one of the worlds largest offshore mapping programs. I was the lead developer of a new randomised and spatially balanced sampling strategy. Furthermore, I developed an Environmental Variability Index that can be used for long-term strategic survey planning as well as scaling of sampling effort to the environmental variability found in the area(s) to be sampled.

I was involved in teaching graduate courses in multivariate statistics and species distribution modelling. I also developed a two-day introductory R-course given to other scientists at the Natural History Museum. This course has also been given to colleagues at the Geological Survey of Norway and been translated to Spanish and given at La Universdad Técnica de Manabí in Ecuador.

I studied species-environment relationships of marine benthic macrofauna in the Oslofjord. These relationships were analysed using indirect gradient analysis (i.e., analyses of gradients in species composition and their relation to environmental conditions).

I worked in an interdisciplinary environment consisting of social scientists, resource economists, fisheries technologists, and marine ecologists conducting research aiming to enhance the governance and resource management of fisheries and other stakeholder activities in the coastal zone.My main achievement was to gather long time series of fisheries data, convert them to a spatiotemporal series and visualise/animate them in a GIS software.
