My practice concentrates on the protection of intellectual property in the United States and abroad, including trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, the negotiation and drafting of trademark, copyright and patent license agreements, technology transfer agreements, the prosecution of trademark and copyright applications, the prosecution and defense of trademark oppositions and cancellations in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as intellectual property due diligence in connection with mergers & acquisitions and financial transactions. Prior to joining Wuersch & Gering, I practiced international and domestic intellectual property law at the New York office of Alston & Bird LLP and its predecessor firm, Walter, Conston, Alexander & Green, P.C.I’m a member of the International Trademark Association (“INTA”) and currently a serve on INTA’s Brand Restrictions Committee during the 2022-2023 committee term. In the past I have served as a Chair and Vice-Chair of various INTA committees and subcommittees. I have taught Trademark Law at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies and have lectured on international trademark law, secured interest in intellectual property assets and the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.In November 2007, I was the co-recipient of INTA’s Volunteer Service Award for the Advancement of Trademark Law, in recognition of my work representing INTA at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”) in connection with that body’s drafting of a Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions and a supplement dealing with specific issues of security interests in intellectual property. I was also privileged to serve as an expert consultant to UNCITRAL on issues relating to intellectual property security interests.Specialties: Trademark and Copyright law, licensing of rights, technology and other intellectual property, international corporate and commercial law, corporate and contract law.
