She was twice invited to judge the Edinburgh TV Awards "Climate Impact Award" having helped develop its criteria. She also judged the Willy Brandt Documentary Film Award for Freedom & Human Rights at the Berlin Human Rights Film Festival, and EarthXFilm where she presented Oscar-winning documentary, 'My Octopus Teacher', it's first major prize.Thimali has been recognized by the New York Times, Columbia Journalism Review and the BBC/PBS for her work innovating climate media.
