About Thinh Van
As CEO for WWF-Viet Nam, the country’s largest conservation organization in Vietnam, Dr. Thinh is responsible for the continuous high performance and financial viability of the WWF country program in Vietnam. He provides support and mentors the Country Management Team; ensuring the office has the required capability to deliver high impact results and being managed to the highest standards in operations, finance, HR, conservation, communications and fundraising. He helps them find ways of improving effectiveness and efficiency, as well as ensuring compliance with the organization’s reporting, policies, procedures and standards frameworks. Internally, he works closely with the senior leadership of WWF-Asia Pacific and interacts frequently with the CEOs and senior leadership of WWF National Organizations. Externally, he creates and fosters links with leaders in governments, inter-governmental institutions, business and industry, NGOs, local communities, donors and other strategic partners. His ultimate goal is to increase the organization’s conservation impact and build future leadership and talent within the organization; while driving a culture of performance, accountability and high ethical values. Joining WWF-Viet Nam since 2004 an taking several important positions ranging as project coordinator, landscape manager, conservation manager then promoted to become country director for the last 6 years. He granted memberships in IUCN’s Wild Cattle and Primate Specialist groups, a member of Saola Working Groups and has many scientific papers in national and international journals published. He also completed the WWF Network’s two-year Business and Leadership Programme in 2015.
