About Thinh Nguyen
I'm currently an Associate Professor in the First Year College at Victoria University.I completed my PhD in Photonics at Victoria University. My research interested is in student learning, particularly in problem-based learning (PBL) and gamification in higher education. I have implemented numerous innovative teaching strategies including overseeing the successful Trident Peer Mentoring program for first year maths and physics in engineering that have resulted in significant student improvements in these units. I have also successfully implemented problem-based learning in a number of units in engineering. I have received a number of teaching awards including the Vice Chancellor's Peak Award as well as the Australian Government Officer for Learning and Teaching Citation. I was voted Lecturer Of The Year at Victoria University in 2011 and 2013. I currently teach in the areas of physics, structural mechanics and project management. I have also taught photonics and optics, data acquisition, analogue and digital electronics
