Right now there are more than 640,000 people in the UK that are so desperate to find a place they can call 'home'. A home is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Our co-founder is one of many who's kitchen floor was his bed, who couldn't afford nice clothes at school, who's education suffered because of the stress this inflicted, who couldn't eat three meals a day because he didn't have enough money after rent to buy food. But why is this happening? A place you can call home still seems impossible for so many of us on DSS or low incomes. This ever growing housing crisis and the rise of living costs has meant families can barely afford rent never mind clothing, food and education. It seems the only possible route is to rent off a rogue landlord who offers higher rent but unsafe, illegal and unhealthy living spaces. And while you feel this crisis does not effect you directly, it's all around you. We live in a country saturated with deprivation. It's on your street, it's part of your community and it has become accepted in society. Our experience defines us. It drives us away from this acceptance and motivates us to do better.
