As a result of the 2008 sale of Sterling to Munich Re Group he re-joined Torchmark serving as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the branch office division of United American Insurance Company. He was charged with the task of converting a distressed and predominately underage 65 health insurance sales-force, to a voluntary benefits sales force. In addition to the success in converting the branch office division to the worksite business model, overall quality of business improved with the greatest quality improvement seen in cancelation rates initially in low 30% range, improving to single digits within 12 months. Key activity management systems and tighter after sale controls were implemented resulting in quality of business improvements as well as double digit sales increases. Jim models what has been instrumental to his long term success, a Positive Mental Attitude, Patience, Persistence and Passion for the business, his colleagues and their customers.

In May of 2002, Jim accepted the role of Vice President, Sales and Marketing with Sterling Life Insurance Company an Aon Corp subsidiary and he began to make his mark on this company. While increasing recruiting efforts, he began a transformation of the entire sales force by assembling a team of talented sales executives who possessed the skills and abilities to grow and retain sales staff during the transition of the business. Working through the challenges before him, he successfully managed a wholesale sales force restructure, resulting in consistent double digit new business growth and revenue growth (180m to 1b) by implementing a transferable recruiting, marketing, sales and expense control systems. Sales growth was driven by three key changes:1. Salaried agents and managers converting to straight commission, resulting in a lower cost per sale and increased income for top performers2. Recruiting and training systems were implemented improving producer counts and agent retention. Producer counts grew from 1 to 3 new producers per month per branch office. Overall, producer growth increased from 180 to 1,000 agents3. Increasing captive sales distribution locations in new and existing states. The number of new branches increased by 44 from 21 to 65.Through Jim’s leadership and the installation of a Sales Success System providing all levels of the Agency Sales Force a comprehensive blueprint for individual success, Sterling realized unprecedented growth. Jim considers sales a “contact sport” and "people" business and credits his success to recruiting talented sales leaders, while instilling confidence in the entire team through the teaching of proven recruiting, marketing and sales systems. In 2007 Jim was promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Jim began his career in 1992, with United American Insurance Company, a Torchmark subsidiary as a senior market Sales Agent. His many successes resulted in his promotion to Unit Sales Manager in 1993, to Branch Manager in 1995, and to one of three directors of agency in 1997. Over his ten years at United American, Jim earned several national sales awards, including:• Rookie Agent #2, • Unit Sales Manager #3 (first year), • Rookie Branch Manager #1, • Multiple Eagle winner as agent and BM (3X) • Top sales Director multiple years, recruited, trained and developed two #1 Rookie Branch Managers as well as multiple top 5 and top 10 Branch Offices, during tenure as UA home office employee. As a result of growing the number of profitable branch offices from 10 to 27, in 1999, Jim was promoted to Field Vice President and given responsibility for a multi-state territory. In this role, he developed a seminar recruiting strategy used to increase the volume of interview candidates and improve selection with the goal of improving recruiting and retention results. This recruiting and retention strategy resulted in increased total production in all states under his management. Jim was promoted again in January 2001, to the role of Senior Field Vice President.
