Hoxby is a freelance community of around 1,000 talented associates, from over 40 different countries. Working remotely, in a radically different way, I undertook freelance projects as I established my own consultancy.

As Head of Marketing and Admissions for St John’s College, a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 2-18, I was responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the school, as well as running the marketing and admissions departments to ensure the College’s qualitative and quantitative targets were met.

Hopscotch is the leading specialist consultancy creating award-winning social purpose, content marketing and education campaigns that reach, engage and inspire young people and their families. I led on strategic development and delivery of key client accounts, whilst supporting the growth of the consultancy through new business development. I have a passion for building strong partnerships and was always looking for new ways to connect ideas, clients and educational outcomes.Clients included: Shell, E.ON, Siemens, John Lewis, Barclays, The Co-operative and WWF.

As a member of the Corporate Responsibility Team, I was responsible for developing, implementing and increasing engagement with the company's global community investment and volunteering programmes. I managed a portfolio of relationships with community organisations and charitable partners and had a lead role in impact measurement, analysis and reporting on global community investment activity.

Lumina specialises in the creation, communication and delivery of corporate social responsibility programmes. The company has expertise in employee and community engagement programmes, payroll giving and running events and awards. Day to day I worked on various clients projects. I was responsible for stakeholder management, marketing communications, media relations, event management, competition management, website development, PR, evaluation and reporting across a portfolio of community investment and employee volunteering programmes.

Working on across three environmental exhibitions under the branding of Sustainabilitylive! I assisted a Marketing Manager to drive visitors to the show and had full responsibility for preparing the NEMEX conference and seminar programmes. From strategic planning through to the actual events, I built effective relationships with external stakeholders, media partners and steering committee members. I helped design, deliver and evaluate marketing strategies, managed the launch and day-to-day running of the website and regularly liaised with the PR agency, designers, printers, and mailing houses.

This temporary role saw me working across a number of client accounts (Anadin, Arla, Johnson & Johnson and Terry’s Chocolate Orange), both nationally and internationally. I also coordinated the agency’s graduate recruitment programme.

Whilst travelling I took a short term post in Manly, Sydney. I was the initial point of call for all enquiries in to the office and assisted with marketing, finance, contractual and HR issues and organisation of the AGM.

My 2001/2002 academic year was spent working within JEMU, a government unit that was set up to help promote and sponsor the UK Environmental Industry. Work included co-ordinating the team’s presence at UK events and exhibitions, website and database maintenance and development, reviewing and revising the unit’s numerous publications as well as promoting JEMU at home and overseas.
