Sr. Manager, Client Engineering & Devops
CurrentBeing the lead engineer for this team naturally lead me to take the position of manager of our team. We invoke modern ideas, and build automation and data pipelines across many different tech stacks. While highly focusing on security, automation, the cloud, data, UX, and ensuring our services can be leveraged across our company. We also provide domain expertise on all systems related data to other business units here, and we are the custodians of security and compliance configurations across our fleet of end user devices. Our team leverages DevOps, GitOps, code as infra, data, and everyone's diversified skill set to build modern solutions for a fast growing cloud company
Principal Client Platform Engineer
Started off as a one person team at Snowflake, and built the core tech stacks to manage our fleet of devices. While building the team over time, and eventually becoming the team lead I helped diversify our team's skills. Leveraging automation in the cloud while being backed by data to drive our decisions. I wanted to set a mindset of security first, automation first, and cloud first for everything our team did. While doing so, I also set a path for us to use GitOps and version control and code as infrastructure modernizing our IT practices. All while backed by being data drive and data enabled from our amazing product at Snowflake
Infrastructure Engineer, Mac@Ibm
On the Mac@IBM Engineering team to help IBM be successful with the Apple platform. We built large scale solutions for one of the largest macOS deployments in the world. While working here we hit just above 140,000 macOS clients across over 150 countries.I also managed all the infrastructure on top of Mac Admin and MDM work. This included DBA work for our MySQL Enterprise databases leveraged in middleware systems and for database driven applications we owned. My MDM work was pretty standard of a client platform engineer, writing automations in Python, shell and SQL. My work on the infra side was about managing RHEL servers, MySQL Servers, setting up services like ELK, Zabbix, and so forth, as well as doing standard maintenance and patching.
Client Engineer
I just transitioned into my new role at JAMF Software, which is Client Engineering. The new job title and role really focuses on customer support and relations. I work directly with our largest customers in the Bay Area, California on infrastructure scaling, solutions engineering, and onsite tier 3 support. I work with anything involving the Casper Suite, and what our customers want to accomplish. Dealing mainly with Linux server side infrastructure and very large Apple device client populations. I worked in a hybrid model which involved me being embedded at some level in the Orgs I worked with. This included lots of onsite support, onsite consulting and building solutions with customers to meet their needs directly. In many ways I was a part of their team as well as their main line of support from the vendor. This allowed me a lot of insight to how our customers used the product and work directly with many talented and smart engineers on building large scale Apple device solutions in the enterprise.
Professional Services Engineer
Working in Professional Services at JAMF Software entailed many different and diverse responsibilities. The Pro Services team are the forefront of training, consulting, and implementing all the technology inside and outside our product post sales with a customer. I traveled all over Asia and Europe, setting up customer infrastructure to fit their needs with the use of the Casper Suite. I worked with every type of customer out there. Everything from schools and universities, government, and many different companies in the enterprise sector as well. When customers first look at putting the Casper Suite in the enterprise, I was there to help guide them along the way. Configuring network infrastructure, such as load balancers, proper DNS settings, and hardware infrastructure for the server back end of our product. I would often perform services such as, but not limited to: JSS upgrades, MySQL replication, LDAP integration, custom script work flows (mainly bash and Applescript), Netboot with imaging, thin imaging or provisioning, and in-place imaging where that was the only option.
Tis Tech Level Ii
My job here is pretty broad. I do everything from phone support, end user support, package creation and deployment, client management, server management, OS image creation and deployment, Open Directory Administrator, Casper Administrator, and all of the day to day tasks that need to be done.We help run the 1:1 Macbook to student deployment here at the public school system. Things are never slow and there is always something to be done. I learn a lot working with such a massive amount of technology and tons of mobile users always on the go. Every day there is always work to be done.We had about 8,000 Mac clients, 10,000+ PC devices in a mixed environment. I was the head Casper Administrator and Open Directory Administrator. On top of focusing on the client side solutions and workflows I also managed our 30+ Xserves running Open Directory and several Linux servers used for file distribution.
Network Technician
Part of the technology division, in the support staff. Ran the repair shop and handled and facilitated most warranty repairs on Apple, HP, and Gateway products. Supported over 30,000 users and 10,000 PCs and about 250 Macs. I was also in charge of imaging and managing the Macs with one other person, and wrote the zen works imaging scripts that automated our imaging process on the PC side.
Technician Level Iii
Warranty and service technician for the retail chain. Worked on just about every system you could possibly imagine as well as audio and video equipment. Responsible for repair and maintenance of client technology done on a work order basis. I was their senior Apple tech, but also worked on Windows and some Linux while working here. We were also an OEM systems builder and full AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) so my job included building OEM systems for small businesses and repairing and supporting all of our Apple customers.
