The Zomercompetitie is the biggest multi day business sporting event in the Netherlands offering a 12-week football and field hockey tournament over June, July and August each year. For over 5 years I have been the managing the field hockey tournament of the Zomercompetitie. I was responsible for the entire organisation and operations throughout the 10-week tournament.As Head of Operations I was the main contact person for all (40–100) businesses competing in the tournament as well as staff involved in hosting the tournament. Together with my team we managed a well received tournament each year, leading to yearly growth to the maximum of our capacity Next to the operations over the 10-week period I have been focusing on business development by attracting new business to compete in the tournament, recruitment of employees and arrangements with our locations and vendors.In the 5 years we grew the tournament from 40 to over 100 competing teams in a turbulent time for the event management industry.
