About Thom Jensen

Thom Jensen HT (ASCP) has taken on different challenging opportunities throughout his career. He has worked in an electron microscopy lab, clinical histology labs and served as histologist for the Intermountain Tissue Biorepository in which he was one of the first technicians to implement Tissue Microarray (TMA) in the laboratory.Thom has three publications in the Journal of Histotechnology on TMA procedures. Early on Thom convinced the laboratory to utilize TMAs to optimize the labs new staining platforms. When the laboratory used TMAs instead of single slides, they saved close to $100,000 in antibodies, reagents and tech / pathologist time. With the success of this process, the lab sent Thom's TMA slides to seven other laboratories in their network to do the same.In 2008 Thom invented a new tissue microarray instrument called The Arraymold. He also produced and published a large library of instructional videos for constructing TMAs and histology techniques on the  Arraymold YouTube channel.In 2020 Thom developed a new procedure for processing arteries with stents. This  process was published in Cardiovascular Pathology in 2020 and a poster presentation at a USCAP conference in 2019.In 2023Thom received the 3rd Quarter Histologist Top Performer award in his current position as a Histologist IV at Caris Life Science.
