About Thom Long

Thom is a creative director, professor, and coach with 25 years of experience in various design domains. He leads IdeaCo., a boutique branding and ideation studio that offers design services to a range of clients, including Iron Chefs Jose Garces and Geoffrey Zakarian, Berkshire Brewing Co., Catamount Ski Resort, Andre Balazs Properties, Starr Restuarant Group, Moody's Investments, Mariott, W, Hilton, and Loews Hotels, as well as a variety of academic institutions. He also launched a new division of IdeaCo. that focuses on furniture and product design and fabrication, selling his work on Etsy and online. Thom is also a tenured professor of architecture + design and the dean of the School of Arts and Media at Hampshire College, where he teaches courses across disciplines including graphic design, industrial design, digital representation, and architectural design, and collaborates with students on design and innovation projects. He has previously taught at Columbia University, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, and UMass Amherst. In addition, Thom is a USAT- and Ironman-certified triathlon coach and personal trainer, who has trained and competed in endurance sports for over a decade.
