Test Automation Engineer 3L-3 Communications Feb 2010 - Apr 2013New York, Ny, UsAutomation Test Engineer Supporting projects for Fab-T, Global Hawk, and Predator. Performed environmental stress screening, acceptance tests data gathering, and conducted product reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, qualification tests and evaluations, physical tests and evaluations, and configuration audits on program critical satellite antenna pedestals. additional off site tests included temperature, pressure, salt, fog, sand and dust, explosive environment, acceleration, shock and vibration. Ran antenna RF path performance tests prior to and after each environmental stress screening test using a spectrum analyzer, signal generators and network analyzer. All test equipment was kept calibrated and certified. Antenna control unit software was updated to the most current version and testing verified the antennas met customer specifications. RF filter testing times were improved by 30% in the Hybrid Lab and network access problems were resolved in the Digital Circuit test Lab. Wrote and modified test procedures, validated process and test changes through proper channels updated unit under test "UUT" test plans and procedural records. Updated Automation Test as requested by design engineers.A US Secret Security Clearance was maintained while at L-3 Communications and can be reactivated. -
Electrical/Mechanical Product DesignerG&T Conveyor Apr 2005 - Feb 2010Salt Lake City, Utah, UsCAD Designer/Systems Engineer designing baggage makeup and claim carousels. Reduced the time to create carousel bids for slope plate and flat plate carousels for both claim and makeup types. This was accomplished by developing MS excel spread sheets with configuration pages that allowed the user to only define the carousel type, dimensions, shape and finish. Work sheets added lists of every component, their costs and quantity. Pivot tables were used to arrive at a very accurate bid price. This reduced the cost and time to prepare carousel bids from days to hours and removed the need to produce drawings. During the build process component designs, electrical and mechanical drawing packages, bills of material, shipping lists, work orders, product improvement documents and engineering change orders were all accomplished. Close attention was paid to identifying problems in production and assembly to avoid costly mistakes. Production times were usually very short and fulfillment of contracts includes penalties, this meant there was no room for mistakes in the building of these devices so care was always taken to check and recheck production schedules and vendor supplier delivery times.Successfully bid, designed, managed and delivered projects for Salt Lake City, Tulsa, Maui, Honolulu, Branson, San Francisco, Las Vegas airports and many others. -
Electronics EngineerEg&G Technical Services May 2003 - Apr 2005UsMaintained and repaired the material handling systems and automatic storage and retrieval system, located in building 849 at HAFB. Saved EG & G thousands of dollars by effectively keeping the beyond end of life equipment running. This system was a very large conveyor control system covering 3 warehouses and several tunnels. Performed maintenance on both the electrical systems and conveyors, modified and changed programming of the PLC controls when it was necessary. Troubleshot and replaced many remote I/O control components that were damaged by lightening. The PLC controls were AB- PLC5, Logix 500 and Micro-Logix Panel View and RS-View, HMI controls as well as the Automatic Guided Vehicles and Track Systems. The AGV system employs 50 wire guided fork truck vehicles made by the Raymond Corp. Maintained the Towveyor system that was installed by the Horsley Co. The system has over 2 miles of track and uses 300 track guided carts delivering to over 30 locations in 3 warehouses. Also maintained 2 “DAWS” Dimensioning and Weighing Systems. -
Automated Systems Control EngineerThe Horsley Company Sep 2001 - Jun 2003Designed controls for projects at many major airports using Autodesk Mechanical/Electrical to design material handling and airport baggage handling systems and controls. Managed projects, installation and programming, developed machine concepts and designs and layouts of electrical control panels, magnetic controls, Motor VFDs, programming, debug, and user manuals. Projects include: Inspection conveyor loop at the Delta Airlines Dallas Fortworth TX, (This System included the integration of a CTX-9000 bomb detection system made by InVision.), Dimensioning and weighing system at Hill Air Force Base, Integration of a input and output conveyors to an InVision CTX-9000 x-ray explosive detection machine for Delta Airlines. (This system was a fast-track installation, installed for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.) These projects have all included very detailed HMI user display interfaces. Designed and integrated 12 conveyor systems to 12 InVision CTX-9000 X-ray machines for the Dallas Fortworth TX Airport Authority. (These systems were installed for American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental, etc.) Finalized the designs and building of 11 conveyor simulators for L3 Communications. These simulators were used to test their eXaminer 3DX 3000 & 3DX 6000 bomb detection systems being installed at the Boston Logan Airport and many other locations around the country. Was instrumental in the re-designing, setting up manufacturing contracts and moving the Horsley Co. into the manufacture of some of their newest products including flat plate baggage carousels, pushers and diverters. Managed the manufacture of Horsely's first Flat Plate carousels these were installed at the Delta cargo terminal in SLC, and a smaller carousel in Ketchikan Alaska.

Machine Development, Senior Automation EngineerAutoliv Oct 1997 - Jan 2001Stockholm, SeDesigned, assembled and programmed the machines used in the manufacture and assembly of safety restraint systems at Autoliv. Planned and setup the production cells used in the assembly and manufacture of the airbag modules. AutoCAD was used to develop the machine concepts and designs and layouts of electrical control panels, pneumatics and hydraulics. PLC controls used in the the machine designs were GE, AB, Siemens and Modicon. Planned production cell layouts and used 5S lean manufacturing methodologies to minimize production cell build times, performed DFMEA and SPC processes on products and production lines to find the production problems and quality issues. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DOE, TQM and Process Improvement reduced cost.Machines include automated and semi-automated screw fastener stations, fully automated bag-folders, rivet stations, cap press stations, nut torque stations, cover installation machines, inflator installation, pyro-generate load, inflator spin welding, laser marking, labeling, pyrotechnic igniter weigh & fill stations, seat belt G-sled test stations, inflator laser weld, leak test, and electrical test stations.
