Teatown Lake Reservation is an education center and membership organizationlocated on a 1,000-acre nature preserve in the Lower Hudson Valley. Our mission isto inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship. Teatown maintainsmore than 15 miles of trails and hosts over 20,000 visitors annually. The Director ofStewardship is a senior-level program manager responsible for ensuring thatTeatown’s natural land assets, trails, grounds, and built-facilities are maintained atthe highest level. In collaboration with others, the Director of Stewardship ensuresthat Teatown’s land stewardship activities are accomplished in accordance withTeatown’s strategic plan and stewardship framework.

Devising and implementing the comprehensive Duke Farms Land Stewardship Plan, I led a 15-strong team of conservation and wildlife scientists, seasonal employees and countless volunteers. Overseeing numerous natural resource management initiatives that bolster Forest Stewardship, Invasive Plant Management, Wildlife Management and Landscape & Habitat Management Plans, I accurately identify and determine key conservation targets or values of property, threats to health and the survival of target species and natural resources. Creating threat mitigation strategies, I focused on the preservation and augmentation of critical conservation values. Founding and collaborating with Rutgers University School of Environmental & Biological Sciences on a multi-year research project, I investigated the carbon cycle on the Duke Farms property and defined the best land management protocols for storing carbon.
