Serves as the Senior Space Planner in the G-53 Theater Plans Division, Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS), G-5 Plans, Strategy, and Policy Directorate, United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), reporting directly to the G-53 Theater Plans Division Chief. Individual serving in this position interacts directly with the Army Staff, three combatant command staffs, two major subordinate elements (MSE), two operational brigades, and Army space, missile defense, and other forces operationally deployed to nearly two-dozen locations worldwide. Works directly for the G-53 Theater Plans Division Chief and the DCoS, G-5 Director who provide broadguidance and direction regarding tasks, priorities, and objectives. The incumbent leads diverseoperational planning teams (OPT) of varied sizes incorporating internal and external experts andstakeholders to solve complex problems as directed by the Commander or as the mission dictates.The incumbent leads planning teams to answer detailed questions or recommend commandfeedback on Joint Staff, service, and combatant command policies, strategies, and plans. Theincumbent expertly applies the military decision-making process to promote the accomplishment ofUSASMDC’s mission and achievement of the Commander’s priorities and vision. The incumbent alsoprovides subject matter expertise for planning, coordinating, resourcing, and integrating space (Space Control, Space Situational Awareness, and other space capabilities), Missile Warning, andmissile defense (Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD)) into USASMDC, combatant command,service, and Joint strategies, campaign plans, and operations. The incumbent serves as an actionofficer responsible for managing projects as directed by the chain of command.

USASMDC has Army Service Component Command (ASCC) and Army force modernization proponent responsibilities. Works under the broad administrative direction of the G-51 Strategy & Policy Division Chief and G-5 Director, who provide guidance and direction regarding priorities and objectives. Provides subject matter expertise for planning, coordinating, and integrating space operations and associated capabilities (Space Control, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Satellite Communications (SATCOM), Environmental Monitoring, and Missile Warning) into Combatant Command OPLANs, CONPLANs, and operations.Reviews and analyzes policy, strategy, and doctrine documents, and prepares andpresents information/decision briefings to the G-51 Division Chief, the G-5 Director, theDeputy Commanding General for Operations (DCG-O), and the Commanding General.Subjects range from routine review of USASMDC, Army, Joint Force SpaceComponent Command (JFSCC), USSTRATCOM, Joint Staff, and OSD strategic documentsto Combatant Command Campaign Plans, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and TheaterPosture Plans (TPPs) or more in-depth written analyses and requirement documentation.Conducts and directs both short-term and long-range planning efforts to analyze, assess,and integrate Army space capabilities and systems into the full range of Army contingencyplans, exercises, operations, and activities in support of USSPACECOM & USSTRATCOM Unified Command Plan (UCP) requirements. Plans and executes operationally relevant Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) exercises and experiments involving prototype, developmental or operational military and commercial systems as part of the JNWC program of mission activity. Executes NAVWAR exercise and experiments employing representative threat and capability-based warfighting scenarios employing experimental or operational procedures. Executes exercise and experiment events involving operational warfighting systems, units and participants, some of which may involve international or coalition partners and venues. Executes NAVWAR activities in joint and Service exercises. Coordinates with other exercise participants, including operational units, headquarters exercise planners, and exercise staffs to execute NAVWAR activities in exercises. Leads exercise teams; manages teams of technical and non-technical personnel in executing NAVWAR exercise and experiments. Manages exercise and experiment execution, including monitoring exercise progression and accomplishment, interfacing with supporting and host organizations, and making or recommending real-time adjustments in event schedules to maximize data collection and objective accomplishment. Participates in Departmental, interagency, and coalition teams and processes.

Responsible for the development of a combatant command echelon Space Operations Concept Plan and supporting annexes. Leads an operational planning team consisting of representatives from across the command in developing and refining offensive and defensive space control concepts through plan completion. Conducts mission analysis to develop space mission area lines of effort and organizational training objectives and follows the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) in support of other USSTRATCOM deliberate plan development activities for named adversaries. Briefs senior leadership, up through Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, as required. Additionally, responsible for ensuring Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commander, USSTRATCOM high interest training items are incorporated into command exercises and accurately measured and assessed.

Indoctrinated headquarters staff and managed over 50 Special Technical Operations and Alternate Compensatory Control Measure programs for United States Division-North (USD-N) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, ensuring all subordinate units were fully resourced and trained prior to deployment; Provided detailed weekly trend analysis on enemy activity to determine attack patterns and insurgent tactics, techniques, and procedures in the Counter-Indirect Fire (C-IDF) fight; Delivered daily operations support, to include space weather predictions, navigational accuracy projections, scintillation reports, overhead ISR coverage maps, missile warning, space situational awareness, navigation warfare coordination, and space control in order to optimize the utilization of the electromagnetic spectrum and ensure seamless operations for USD-N; Created and managed over 5,000 Department of Defense operational reports for USD-N through the Combined Information Data Network Exchange (CIDNE) database, ensuring 100% accuracy and timely submission; Authored the Space Operations and Special Technical Operations annexes for deployment, providing information on numerous capabilities available in support of operations throughout a combat zone; Established a fully operational Special Technical Operations facility in new Division Headquarters building; Coordinated with national intelligence agencies to ensure that automation systems, communications, and security systems were installed and in compliance with established standards

Researched, analyzed, and identified future capability requirements used in developing the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command’s strategy to guide the modernization of Space, Missile Defense, and Cyberspace capabilities as well as produce the Space Technology Trends and Forecast document; Developed strategic communications products used by the Commanding General and other senior leaders to brief senior leaders throughout the Department of Defense on the role that space capabilities will have on future combat and humanitarian operations; Coordinated participation of 12 Space Operations Officers across the Army to participate in the Air Force Space Command’s war game resulting in greater emphasis on Joint space operations; Articulated and promoted Army space equities to the Joint community while representing the command during numerous space and cyberspace war games and planning events
