Served as a host and chef on evenings/weekends as a student. Learned to make gourmet sushi by hand while simultaneously improving organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced kitchen.

Operated cryostat machinery to prepare tissue sections of mouse brain and spinal cord samples for use in immunohistochemistry (IHC). Conducted Open Field Tests with transgenic mice to measure the behavioral effects of a novel experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis that does not present lower motor paralysis. Learned the basics of ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) antibody detection in addition to DNA amplification via qPCR. Collaborated with lab members to conduct IHC.

Worked consistently to prepare materials necessary for company contractors and their job sites. Delivered additional materials to work sites when necessary and participated in the on/offloading of all warehouse stock. Managed physical inventory, operated heavy machinery such as forklifts, and used power tools to cut fencing materials according to precise specifications.

Began my career as a prep cook and dishwasher in a seafood restaurant kitchen. This experience taught me how to stay accountable during acute times of stress, and helped me establish a strong work ethic.
