As a Civil Engineer at Atkins, I was involved on a number of key infrastructure projects in the United Kingdom, including: • High Speed 2 (HS2), U.K. – Civil Design Engineer for HS2 Phase 1 Country South (101km) cross drainage and land drainage value engineering assessment. The assessment identified and recommended modifications to improve the concept design and/or reduce client risk prior to the works being tendered to a Contractor for detailed design. Modifications were made to the design of conventional gravity culverts, inverted siphons, channels and storm water retention ponds.• Thames Tideway Tunnel, U.K. – I was the Lead Civil Engineer for the Durability Assessment, as well as a member of the Civil Design Team, for the system modification works for the Thames Tideway Tunnel. These works included modifying an existing sewer overflow pump station to accommodate a new 3.8m dia. wet well, installing a new 3x5x7m weir chamber and a new 2.8m dia. overflow siphon tunnel. • Beddington WWTP Upgrade, U.K. – I was a member of the Civil Design Team for the Beddington WWTP Upgrade, which included a significant overhaul of the plants sludge management system. I was directly responsible for the design of the new 450m of sludge rising main as well as site servicing for the new control building and sludge treatment areas.

As a Project Engineer, I was responsible for the design of multiple First Nation/Aboriginal community water (groundwater supply, treatment and storage) and pumped wastewater systems in British Columbia. These projects consistently presented interesting challenges such as isolated sites, cold climate design, designing for minimal/simple maintenance, communicating with federal agencies and working to meet client’s goals/expectations and customs.
