GENERAL PURPOSE:The Cloud Services Engineer has a deep understanding of Linux/Windows server administration, networking, and key applications and services running on virtualized and nonvirtualized platforms. The role’s primary focus is the architecture, deployment, and operational management of the compute and storage infrastructure in both internal and customer facing network applications. In addition, the Cloud Services Engineer is responsible for complex problem resolution, creating and improving procedures and facilitating communication. Other duties include researching, proofing, and authoring technical documentation that are beneficial to the company. Responsibilities also include providing oversight of a number of Hosted Linux systems, databases, VMWare hosts, and network troubleshooting, and providing various technical solutions to the business.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Architecture.  Monitored and maintained physical & virtual systems for the company operations. I would also conduct all move/add/changes as required for optimal storage and datacenter performance. Daily administration included the support of Microsoft Hyper-V & VMWare ESXi virtualized environments including periodic maintenance & upgrades of both environments for both the hardware & hypervisor layer platform upgrades. Datacenter site administration included daily evaluation of the physical servers as well as the datacenter environment as a whole.  Administered & maintained a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 & 2012 environment on servers located in both the company primary site as well as a secondary site in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Administered & maintained storage solutions including a Nimble CS-240 storage appliance set up in a clustered shared storage solution. The Nimble storage was then used for a Windows Hyper-V clustered virtualized environments across a dedicated iSCSI network. Also administered & maintained a Dell MD3000 storage solution used in a VMWare ESXi 6.0 virtual environment used in a Test/Development environment. Active Directory Domain administration for site administration of domain. Worked on Active Directory Functional Level upgrade to 2012 Functional Level.

Administered & maintained a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 environment on servers located in both the company primary site as well as in 3 different sites throughout the United States & Canada.Administer, maintain and troubleshoot storage solutions including a combination of platforms including Isilon IQ 108NL & EMC VNX/VNXe storage solutionsMonitor and maintain physical & virtual systems and conduct all move/add/changes as required for optimal storage and datacenter performance. Administered the backup solution for the entire infrastructure’s utilizing Symantec/Veritas NetBackup 6.5.6. All data was stored via backup to disk or on tape using a Dell ML6000 library. I was also responsible to support any request for restores from the user community. Offsite storage sent to Iron Mountain for long term storage.Administered & maintained Windows Server 2003 domain controllers, file servers, exchange servers, database servers, & application servers located in a total of 4 different sites in Houston, Texas & Jacksonville, Florida.

Administered & maintained a combination of Windows Server 2003 & 2008 R2 servers, Windows XP Professional workstations, & a Point of Sale system operating on an IBM 4690 operating system.Developed and tested changes for various platforms in the retail operations. I maintained a test environment for testing purposes using VMWare ESXi 4.0 vSphere. I used a combination of customized scripting and LANDesk for the deployment of changes to multiple systems operating in the remote sites, including new software installations.Updated and created support documentation & provide training for new procedures to remote site personnel as well as first level support personnel.

I administered & maintained the datacenter environment including a Dell packaged EMC CLARiiON CX3-20 Series Storage Area Network (SAN) consisting of a combination Fiber Channel & SATA Hard Drives in Disk Array Enclosures (DAE). Windows based file servers & a VMWare ESX 3.5 virtual environment were both hosted on Dell PowerEdge servers with fibre channel connections to the SAN using a Cisco MDS fibre channel switch. LUN allocations for the Windows based file servers & datastore locations for the virtual environment were defined using the EMC Navisphere utility.The environment consisted of physical servers using Dell PowerEdge series & HP/Compaq Proliant servers & virtual servers using the VMWare ESX 3.5 virtual environment. The ESX host systems run on a Linux based operating system. I also would perform periodic upgrades to the ESX environment host systems. We started out with ESX 3.01, upgraded to 3.5 in 2008, & I was working on upgrading the environment to vSphere 4 in Sep 2009. I administered our backup solution for the file servers, exchange server, the various physical servers & the VMWare ESX virtual environment. This included any restore requests from the user community. I have used Symantec/Veritas Backup Exec in a Spectralogic brand AIT tape library & Symantec/Veritas NetBackup in a Dell ML6000 LTO 4 tape library. I administered a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 domain with Active Directory & a Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server. My daily functions involved Active Directory management from user account creation & removal of inactive accounts. I maintained Windows Server 2003 domain controllers, file servers, exchange servers, database servers, & application servers located in both the Corporate office as well as in remote locations which included a Disaster Recovery site located in Dallas, Texas.

I built, maintained & repaired customized functional test equipment used in the test/verification of electronic circuit card assemblies that were used to build IBM computers ranging from laptops, desktops, Netfinity Servers, & RISC based hardware.

Performed troubleshooting & repair of electronic & hydraulic systems in the M1A1 Abrams tank & M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
