My academic career - as a researcher and teacher - provided me with the opportunity to develop a unique family of patented designable bond-molecules ("I-Molecule") that my company scales to produce polymeric materials with desirable bulk properties that are used to manufacture ballistic-resistant shields (.308 and .30-06 caliber, NIJ IV standards), EF-5-resistant tornado shelters, and protective coatings for bridges (Category-5 hurricanes and Zone 4 earthquakes).When I start something, I always see the job through, squarely remaining focused on the Big Picture while completing each task in an efficient, detailed, and closed-form manner.

My research has embodied a “PROTECTION FOR ALL” vision that bridges the gap between basic science and application.I founded PowerPolymer in 2016 on the premise of a patent-protected interfacial polymer with a library of designable material properties. Since 2008, my discoveries have been supported by federal and state agencies, including Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy (DOE), National Academy of Sciences' National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) and National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, Alabama Department of Transportation (DOT), and California DOT (Caltrans), spanning projects from the nano-scale (molecular re-generativity) to the large-scale, including retrofit designs of bridges spanning tidal-influenced waters or in near-field seismic zones. In 2018, I senate-briefed my polymeric invention at the U.S. Capitol which became the launch point to commercialize this remarkable technology via PowerPolymer. Today, PowerPolymer provides scalable solutions to complex resilience challenges in extreme environments.Our customers include residential & commercial industries, military (level III resistant plates for vests & ruck sacks), and bridge owners. Other areas that we would like to expand into include the bio-medical (contact sports), energy, DOE (wind-turbines), and automobile industries.My Background: I received my Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 2003. I edited two conference volumes in Applied Mechanics, chaired nine international conferences, and was a staff scientist at The Aerospace Corporation in the Spacecraft Structures Division, supporting programs such as DMSP, GPS IIf / IIr, and DSCS. Additionally, I supported the EELV, Atlas, and Titan IV launch vehicle programs.
