Currently, I am a senior extraction manager at RX Extraction Ltd., overseeing and managing an entire extraction plant for the extraction of CBD and other cannabinoids from hemp cultivars. I obtained my PhD in green chemistry (in natural product utilisation) and have over eight years’ experience in the field of supercritical CO2 extraction and isolation of natural products. I have vast knowledge of high-pressure solvent systems as well as extensive experience in natural product separation and analysis. For the past five years, I have gained vast expertise in hemp extraction and purification, developing simple and efficient methods for isolating cannabinoids (in particular cannabidiol) from complex lipophilic mixtures. In fact, the ideas that I came up with have won industrial funding and we have recently filed a patented process for a simple, novel and quick process for isolating cannabinoids from complex crude hemp extracts. This process makes use of a mesoporous material in a solid phase-extraction set-up, which effectively removes the cannabinoids from the crude extract, avoiding the need for winterification and distillation. I am enthusiastic, hard-working and can work both independently as well as part of a team, including management roles.
