Provide Company-wide management of regulatory, product compliance and sustainability issues relative to North American manufacturing and forestry operations (approx. 100 locations – Pulp and Paper, Corrugated Packaging and Building Products – US, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico). Serve as customer liaison on environmental, sustainability and product compliance initiatives and represent the company to regulators, customers, public and media. Track and evaluate state, federal and local regulations, evaluate impact(s) to the Company and develop appropriate strategies, programs or policies. Manage Company wide EHS Compliance Auditing Program. Manage staff providing a full suite of environmental compliance services (permitting, testing, regulatory reporting, compliance management and auditing).

Establish and manage policy systems and regulatory programs to facilitate the Temple-Inland - Building Products business unit in meeting its obligations for environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives. Manage all compliance and sustainability issues relative to manufacturing and forestry operations. Track and evaluate state, federal and local regulations, evaluate impact(s) to the Building Products Business Unit and develop appropriate strategies, programs or policies. Manage business unit Compliance and EMS Certifications Auditing Program. Supervise staff providing the Building Products Business Unit a full suite of environmental compliance services.

Develop/Implement and manage Environmental and Safety Management Systems at North American manufacturing locations. Manage Company wide Environmental, Health and Safety Training Program to ensure maintenance of a well-trained and knowledgeable workforce. Develop/Implement facility-specific Behavior Based Safety and other proactive safety and environmental programs at manufacturing locations across all business units. Primary environmental contact for Southern Region corrugated packaging facilities.

Development, implementation and management of a third-party certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) encompassing 22 manufacturing facilities and 2.2 million acres of timberland. Manage staff providing on-site compliance assistance and training support to manufacturing and forest operations. Primary Environmental contact for dimensional lumber facilities.

Development, implementation and management of business unit programs, strategies and policies concerning water and remediation issues. Maintain positive relationship with the regulatory community. Manage the wastewater/storm water permitting process for business unit (building products) manufacturing facilities. Oversee remediation activities. Track and evaluate state, federal and local water related legislation, evaluate impact(s) to the Company and develop appropriate strategies.

Develop and Execute River Authority Operating Policies, Budgets, and Strategic Planning Initiatives. Oversee planning and permit acquisition for $200 million reservoir project. Manage the operation of wastewater and water treatment plants, full service laboratory, environmental consulting/monitoring program and on-site sewerage system regulatory program. Conduct water quality assessments for 17 county area and maintain liaison with government entities, legislators, industry and the general public. Act as chief spokesperson.
