• Provide continuous training to Service Managers• Conduct regular “Service Manager” team meetings with Service Managers.• Negotiate with national accounts parts vendors (tire and non-tire) for pricing and determine, when appropriate, which parts will be standardized for Mckinney. Work with suppliers in reducing cost, through rebate programs or direct sale points. • Monitor branch parts usage and pricing and ensure correct parts are being used on equipment in accordance to Mckinney Repair Standards.• Oversee Mckinney Repair Standards and ensure trailers are repaired consistently to these policies at all branches.• Work with IT to develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program that would include an inventory system for parts, tools, shop supplies, also to include job SRT tracking vs. Actual Time allowing management to monitor individual Tech performance and overall shop performance.• Establish and maintain a formal program that will classify mechanics into levels based on their skills. • Establish and maintain a skill evaluation review that will be done annually by the Service Managers.• Develop technical and non-technical training program for all level of mechanics. Provide mechanics with a clear direction on how to increase their skills and advance their careers.• Help determine mechanic staff levels at each branch based on fleet, customer service requirements, facilities, outside service availability and cost, etc. Develop and maintain a basic formula to calculate the number of mechanics to adequately staff branches.• Monitor “Service Bulletins” from manufacturers and facilitate required service actions through Service Managers.• Monitor the “Out of Service” equipment level at each branch and help drive levels to meet company objectives.
