I have 30+ years experience in environmental protection, both technical and legal aspects. All my study, all my work history, has been in furtherance of my long term goal of improving society and the environment around the world. I graduated from law school cum laude in 1992 and joined a prestigious regional law firm in Portland, Oregon. In 1997, I left that firm to start my own law firm, The Environmental Compliance Organization LLC and to pursue my interest in international development issues as Executive Director of the public benefit NGO ECO International . I represent U.S. clients primarily with regard to environmental issues, specializing in toxics issues (primarily RCRA hazardous waste and CERCLA cleanup / cost recovery). In 1999 I began a decade of environmental projects in Khabarovsk, Russia on behalf of the Portland Khabarovsk Sister City Association. In 2008 I lead Oregon's response to the earthquake in Sichuan Province, China. In 2012 I traveled to eastern Uganda and initiated the Bugiri Hospital Potable Water project. That project, completed in May 2014 with funding by The Rotary Foundation, returned reliable water service to a major hospital that had suffered from chronic shortages and periodic lack of service for decades.
