Dr. Thomas L. Benson is the President Emeritus of Green Mountain College, a liberal arts college in Poultney, Vermont. The institution adopted an innovative mission as an environmental liberal arts college during his tenure, and it was named America's #1 environmental college by the Sierra Club in 2010. Currently, Dr. Benson is coordinating the development of the International Association for Senior Debate, a nonprofit forensics program that will based in lifelong learning programs and other agencies that offer educational and cultural programs to older citizens. He continues to consult on international education initiatives, including projects in East Asia and Africa. He is the founder and Executive Director of the World Leadership Corps, an international service organization that was launched at Oxford University in 2005. Dr. Benson is the co-founder and former chair of the ASIANetwork and the founder of the Africa Network. He is also the former chair of the board of the Japan ICU foundation. Dr. Benson has graduate degrees from Harvard and the Johns Hopkins Univ. He was twice a post-doctoral fellow at Yale Univ., and from 2005-2007, he was a visiting fellow at Oxford Univ., where he served as the founder and co-director of the World Education Institute in the James Martin School for the 21st Century.
