Electrical EngineerIisi Corporation Dec 2005 - Oct 2007UsMy responsibilities encompass the full spectrum of product development. This includes system engineering, detail hardware/firmware design, integration & testing, and product manufacturability. A short list of projects that I have been completely responsible for are:• Designed a miniature (about the size of a dime), ultra-low power (90+ day operation from a coin cell) microcontroller based RF Transceiver (operating range +1100 feet with a 0.5W transmitter) including Printed Circuit Board (PCB), design documentation and a sophisticated embedded control algorithm. Including a comprehensive Built-In-Test (BIT) algorithm to verify device operation. Developed and implemented all acceptance test procedures (ATP) and system performance testing. Coordinated board manufacturing and assembly process. Working prototypes were available within six (6) weeks of project kickoff. • Designed a tiny Control Board (1.5”x1.5”) that provides Global Position System (GPS) functionality and controls M/A-COM’s custom L-Band Transmit Board (daughter board) including all engineering documentation, including Concept of Operation, performance requirements and acceptance testing. The PCB layout was non-trivial and all RF signals required careful routing to avoid crosstalk and maximize signal integrity. I developed the hardware requirements and satisfied all system requirements. The first prototypes (Rev -) were fully operational within ten (10) weeks of project kickoff. In addition, I provided M/A-COM with firmware development support and identified several firmware (embedded hardware) issues with their design. • Developed a tiny (0.50”x0.35”) RF-Beacon (tone generator) used in tag & tracking government/military assets. The design approach used was based on a PLL and referenced to a TCXO, coupled to an 8-bit microcontroller used to “program” the frequency and other related PLL parameters/settings. In addition, I designed the PCB and coordinated all manufacturing and testing efforts. -
Principal Engineer (Contractor)Optics 1 Feb 2007 - Jun 2007Bedford, New Hampshire, UsPrimary responsibility was the operational support and engineering improvement for the Advance Multi-band Optical Surveillance System (AMOSS) for the US Navy. I worked closely with the US Navy to install, test and troubleshoot the system. In addition, I provided engineering support/design to Special Operations Command (SOCOM). I managed/coordinate and provided technical advice on several battery operated thermal weapon sight systems. This typically included battery sizing, power supply design, testing and coordinating the manufacturing activity. -
