Alongside my interest in politics, I'm a keen follower of sports (especially Rugby and Cricket) and subsequently playing rugby. I've learnt team building skills through sport, my time on the Swale Youth Council and from being School Captain of my school. These small insights into leadership positions have allowed me to get an introduction to responsibilities involved with running and being part of a team. My primary intrigue into politics has led me to partake in political campaigns including Tom Tugendhat's run for Conservative Party leadership in 2022. I was also able to use political tools to run my campaign to be School Captain at my secondary school. The small snippets that I've learnt about political management and team skills have good translatable qualities that I will be able to use in future careers. Key Achievements ● School Captain of Borden Grammar School – Lead the Prefect team in discharging their responsibilities. Hold weekly meetings with the Headmaster to discuss progress on ideas and projects.● Member of the Swale Youth Council – Lead local school students in formulating suggested improvements to the local Swale area. ● MIND Ambassador – Mentor students in managing their mental health, which included sharing personal stories to create psychological safe spaces.● E-Safety Ambassador – Promoted online safety on behalf of the school, including outlining safe internet usage.● Campaigned for Tom Tugendhat during the 2022 Conservative leadership election - This gave me the chance to learn skills of political communication and how to interact with different people, whilst trying to get a strong message across. ● Peer Guide at Royal Holloway, University of London – Peer Guides help new students through their first term of university life. Through being visible and approachable. As a Peer Guide I will make sure that students starting university will have the best possible start and approach their future studies with ambition.
