I have received classroom experience with a pre-kindergarten and second grade students within the New York City Public School system (in both East Village and the Bronx). This has included much parent interaction and a family day.

I taught a weekly class for elementary-aged boys who were new to dance. My approach was to remove the lens of particular aesthetics or "styles" and teach movement not according to what "gender" dictated, but what I deemed fundamental movements to be. I devised the curriculum, created the movement vocabulary, and conferred with more experienced teachers.

My work at Happendance has been as a company member, attending weekly dance rehearsals and performing in various arenas, including Buckham Gallery in Flint, MI and Dart Auditorium in Lansing, MI. The To-Go Company is an initiative to bring dance performance to elementary schools in the Greater Lansing Community. As part of the company, we gave performances.

I work as one of two undergraduate teaching assistants for Dr. Lauren Julius Harris. The class focuses on developmental psychology, largely from a neuroscience perspective. My role has included researching online videos for class examples, acting as "tech guru" for the class, and holding weekly office hours to field student questions.

Michigan State University Writing Center

Worked with a diverse set of clientele on brainstorming, organizing, and revising multimodal writing projects- from five-paragraph essays, to video projects, to dissertations. This position also includes presenting workshops on a variety of different topics, including communicating with digital video, peer-revision, and APA citation style.

Lansing, MI

Cooperative research effort between dance minor students at Michigan State University, director of dance Sherrie Barr, and volunteers at the REACH Studio Art Center in Lansing. Position has involved programming expressive movement workshops for youth from the Lansing inner-city. Findings were presented by Barr, myself, and two other students at the 2013.

Manistee, MI

Assisted residents in their daily tasks, including bathing, dressing, transfers, and medication administration. Direct care workers also are required to distribute and order medications, respond in emergency situations, and perform daily housekeeping duties. On a side note, I worked the night shift, which required the additional skill of staying alert.
