Manage hospital operations and performance for the Central Division Hospital Business Unit at Steward Healthcare. The central division consists of seven Acute Care Hospitals and one Acute Rehab facility spread across Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Implemented a change in distribution vendor and managed an ongoing set of product conversions aimed at lower supply costs for the organization. Responsibilities included key expense management initiatives for the organization. Lead the effort to improve labor management through reductions in the use of contract labor, overtime and improving the overall productivity by working to match departmental staffing with volume. Efforts successfully lead to annual labor expense savings in excess of 1.5 million dollars. Additional responsibilities over length of stay improvement managing a multidisciplinary approach to optimize patient outcomes while reducing length of hospitalization; achieved a .75 reduction of LOS on average. Partnered with key members of the peri-operative team to facilitate an OR efficiency program which improved first case on time starts from 30% to 75%, reduced turnover time by 10 minutes on average and implemented a system for regular reviews of room utilization to optimize the capacity of the OR and efficiency of the surgical staff.

While studying as a full time MBA student at Babson's FW Olin School Graduate of Business I held two internships with Steward focused on system and hospital operations. From June through August of 2014 I worked for the health system facilitating the evaluation of a lab consolidation project aimed at optimizing the efficiency of lab operations across the 10 hospital system. The consolidation delivered 10 million dollars of annual operating expense savings by lowering labor requirements, renegotiating vendor contracts and reducing waste.At the conclusion of this project I transitioned to a hospital based role which spanned September 2014 through May 2015. In this position I delivered a system for managing labor efficiency across the hospital by developing a dashboard which measured productivity against departmental volumes and the budgeted staffing targets.
