I am the Program Director for Preventive Cardiology at one of Michigan's largest health systems and I am board certified in Cardiology, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. As Program Director, the Preventive Cardiology practice has grown and developed into one of our most thriving programs in the Cardiovascular service line. The Preventive Cardiology focuses on the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular events including myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident and atrial fibrillation and encompasses programs including clinical lipidology, women's cardiovascular health, refractory hypertension, nutritional medicine, metabolic health, mental health associated with chronic disease, obesity, genetic predisposition for cardiovascular disease and early detection and treatment of subclinical cardiovascular disease. Our partnership with interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, advanced heart failure and electrophysiology and role in the quality improvement committee, places Preventive Cardiology in the midst of all of our hospital based programs aimed at improving clinical outcomes, focusing on value-based care, reducing readmission and containing costs. Preventive Cardiology also partners with Primary Care, Lifestyle Medicine and Population Health. We have participated as a key stakeholder in using artificial intelligence for detecting previously undiagnosed coronary artery disease and the early detection of atrial fibrillation. This work stems from my strong passion for the development, implementation, and coordination of program-related services to improve patient care and outcomes while reducing costs. This work could not be possible without the dedication and passion of the entire Preventive Cardiology team which includes our health coaches, exercise physiologists, nutritionists, psychologists, nurses and program coordinators. It is a privilege and honor to lead and be part of such a dynamic, caring team.
