Team Leader
CurrentIn my current role as Team Leader in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise my core responsibilities are for the day to day running of the department. This includes completing the safety checks for the building before opening, organising the lifeguard team to complete the cleaning on poolside and checking the staffing for the current and coming days to secure a smooth operation. I also work closely with the Assistant Managers aiding them with administrative tasks which include training and check in conversations of the lifeguard team. Aside from this I have extra responsibilities that I have taken upon myself or have been delegated to myself from higher management. To complete these extra tasks, I must be organised with my time and delegate wisely smaller/easier jobs to the wider team. The safety checks include checking structural safety, ride operation, signage, cleanliness etc. these are a hugely important part of the role and have helped me gain a deep understanding of the ins and outs of the STSP operations. As Team Leader you are required to organise the lifeguard team each day in their cleaning rota which is completed before the opening of the pool in the morning and in the evening after closure of the pool. You are also required to maintain the lifeguard team during opening hours, making sure each Lifeguard position is filled and the staff are rotating and receiving breaks. As the Team Leader on shift you are the main point of call for any complaints, first aids and emergencies that happen during the shift, therefore you must always be prepared and on hand to deal with any situation in a calm and efficient manner.
