CurrentI currently specialize in information and evidence sharing to combat crime and terrorism, supervising extradition cases, and negotiating agreements that promote international cooperation and also protect privacy. For 14 years, I investigated and prosecuted corruption, domestic terrorism, and child exploitation for DOJ. I formerly supervised prosecutions, and I have several years of experience supervising mutual legal assistance and extradition cases. In November 2016, I was selected for the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Furthering the Interests of U.S. National Security. The award was given to me and other Justice Department lawyers who negotiated the US-EU Data Privacy and Protection Agreement.I also have negotiated treaties on aviation security, organized crime and trafficking in persons, as well as numerous UN resolutions and decisions. Since 2010, I have chaired the International Cooperation Working Group of the parties to the UN Transnational Organized Crime Convention. In November 2012, I was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors.I have also helped draft and explain to Congressional staff several laws that were enacted, including the Clinton Administration bill that later became the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, the expansion of the coverage of the sex tourism statute,18 U.S.C. section 2423(c), and the Judicial Redress Act (2016).Prior to getting immersed in DOJ's international work, I investigated and prosecuted public corruption, investigated and prosecuted acts of domestic terrorism against abortion providers, and supervised the prosecution of sex offenses against children and trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation.
