Teacher of History, Politics and Sociology. Teaching a range of subjects to a variety of age groups, including a number of GCSE and A-Level classes.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a welcoming, friendly and informative environment for the visitor to ensure that their experience of the exhibitions, events and facilities run by York Museums Trust is positive, rewarding, memorable and safe. I am also involved in assisting with the security of the buildings, grounds, collections, staff and equipment and working in a variety of aspects of operations including admissions and guiding.

In this role I'm a representative of the University, sharing my knowledge of the university and my experience of it with prospective students, parents/carers and other interested parties. I do this in a range of ways, by simply answering questions about the time to providing campus tours and detailing key parts of the campus. As well as this, I'm also tasked with developing an interest in the University of York and wider Higher Education by means of group activities and discussions. This role is also demonstrative of my flexibility, shifts I've worked have gone beyond the description above. I've helped prepare and deliver other functions, including putting up and taking down signage across campus for Post-Offer Visit Days, accompanying students to and from campus on coaches and even working in the cloakroom for a University graduation.

I have undertook Team Leader training, gaining additional roles which include overseeing a bar and the team on it, additional money handling and supervision responsibilities and completing paperwork.

Responsible for serving members of the public, pouring alcoholic beverages, providing customers with food and drink, providing excellent customer service and handling money.
