I have over 30 years of experience as a leader in Strategic Sourcing. My sourcing experience covers a breadth of direct and indirect materials as well as services. Throughout my career I have been a leader and innovator for Strategic Sourcing and source-to-pay. I learned the basics working for 10 years at General Motors, first in Manufacturing Engineering and Project Management before taking a role on the Steel Buying team for 4 years. It was there that I ran my first reverse auction (particularly noteworthy as it preceded the internet and was done in person). I then spent 26 years at Procter & Gamble in a variety of source-to-pay roles. I worked first as a Raw Materials Buyer before moving into leadership and leading a diversity of Sourcing teams. I have led teams of up to 30 buyers, negotiated individual business awards of over $100 million, led the implementation of purchasing systems such as Coupa, and became recognized as a negotiations expert at P&G teaching negotiations classes in P&G’s sourcing college for 15 years. My career started in the technical field having earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering (University of Kansas). After a few years in technical roles, I found my passion was business, earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration (University of Dayton), moved into Sourcing, and have excelled in source-to-pay ever since.
