During the summer of 2024 I spent 13 weeks working as a trainee product engineer for Axon Cable Uk. During my time there I worked on a project to build a product demonstrator aimed at showcasing Axon’s capabilities to potential clients. During my time at Axon, I gained valuable experience and knowledge, particularly in the following areas:- Extensive use of CAD software, primarily Autodesk Inventor 2024, including working with complex, multilayer assemblies.- Integrating 3D printing with CAD to manufacture prototypes and finished parts.- Programming with Arduino and C++ to control servos and LEDs in a loop.- Creating technical drawings for external manufacturers using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.- Project planning and management for myself and the project team, including organizing weekly meetings, managing tasks around part lead times and priorities, and ensuring targets were realistic and achievable.- Basic use of image rendering software in Autodesk Inventor 2024 and limited experience with Autodesk 3ds Max.I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Axon, and it has solidified my interest in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. This experience has provided me with a strong foundation for the next phase of my studies.

Working on the bar and serving drinks to customers, bar-backing, which involves restocking bars, moving and organising stock, changing kegs and occasionally moving kegs and stock to other bars on the George Square site and other Underbelly bars within the fringe. Recommended for promotion to Chargehand.
