I’m proud to be CEO of BMI Group, a leading provider of flat and pitched roofing and waterproofing solutions, with operations in Europe, Asia and Africa. I love that when you look around, you can see how we’ve helped shape the roofscapes of communities and commercial sites in countries across the world. It’s a purpose we all share at BMI, and we call it Building New Horizons.I’ve seen first hand how a roof can have a real and lasting positive impact on people’s everyday lives, and how roofing technology can contribute to a sustainable future. It’s my mission to help BMI be the very best it can be, so we can help even more customers in Building New Horizons of their own.I’m passionate about businesses whose people and products shape the world we live in, and which have the opportunity to play an active part in improving their industry from within. Before joining BMI, I led Shell’s European Refining & Chemicals business, transforming Shell’s manufacturing locations into Energy & Chemicals parks that enable the energy transition, by investing in solutions like green hydrogen, biofuels, CCS and recycled plastics. I also led Shell’s Chemicals business, one of the largest chemicals companies in the world, which provides the basic ingredients for thousands of products we all use daily. I joined Shell with a degree in theoretical physics and in the first 15 years of my 26 years at Shell, I had several roles in B2B sales, marketing, operations and planning in Shell’s Retail business, which today has 46,000 locations worldwide, serving 32 million customers a day. I am married to Sabine, an art historian and consultant, and two children, James and Isabella. Originally from the Netherlands we consider London, UK our home. I play field hockey, love cold water swimming and as a family we have season tickets to see our beloved Arsenal.
