Thomas is a retired Pararescueman, Special Mission Unit team leader, other government agency section leader and NASA mission mode 8 team leader. Thomas has twenty years of joint special operations, NASA, and operational intelligence agency experience. Thomas's breadth of knowledge and experience with the respective agencies he worked for was heavily validated through intense training programs and wartime experience in every major US conflict from 1990-2014. He deployed for his country more than 30 times to austere locations around the world and executed over 1000 operational, high risk, wartime missions. Thomas provided crucially sensitive support to domestic law enforcement agencies during high profile or high-risk events such as the Olympics, the World Cup, political party conventions and presidential visits. Thomas supported other national agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in the event of a national emergency involving nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons.Thomas was irreplaceable as the Joint Research and Development Section head for his final four years of service. He spearheaded the development of key joint service requirements, tactics and techniques that ensured seamless interoperability and equipment standardization; planned and conducted joint operations exercises and training; and developed joint operational tactics. Through strong leadership he brought a true joint nature to the program which increased product development tenfold, improved time management, and reduced "cradle to the grave" project development time.
